Learning Games for Kids: What to Look For

When deciding what educational learning games for kids, look for ones that best stimulate both right brain left brain function in your young aspiring genius. Follow these expert tips.

Children's Educational Games Designed for Accelerated Learning:

Flash'em accelerated learning game on this site.

1. They should have no distorted images such as cartoon characters, etc. Find ones that use accurately drawn or natural photographic images as well as appropriate colors that engage learning. Click here for information about the right brain colors mentioned above.

2. Games should be simple, clean and focused instead of over-stimulating with chaotic, confusing images or animations. Experts tell us that less is more with learning games for kids. It's much easier to focus on and learn when there's little or no distraction in the game and in their immediate surroundings. Memory Magic games (one of the game interfaces is shown above) is an excellent example of a clean, organized game that uses only natural, non-distorted images.

3. If they use music, accelerated learning games and exercises should incorporate Baroque (Largo tempo) music. Stay away from those that carry a syncopated beat such as rock music. Click here for more information about the proper types of music to use for accelerated learning.

4. Games should engage the child or adult in both right brain left brain function rather than just left brain or logic-based activities. See below for a great games CD!

5. Children's educational games should uplift and stimulate the mind with positive thoughts and feelings rather than titillate the senses with sensual, aggressive or other feelings that block focus and concentration.

6. Accelerated learning games and exercises for young children or babies involve the parent or whole family together for a loving bonding experience.

7. Games and lessons could be hand crafted or assembled by the parent with child. This also promotes parent/child bonding.

8. Children's educational games, exercises and lessons should be presented in a loving, calm way.

9. Games could be played in different ways or with different materials to keep them fresh, interesting or challenging.

10. Learning games for kids should not be competitive. Competition can put the mind in a stress mode, which can block right brain function and proper stimulation. However, when children are older, they may enjoy challenging, competitive accelerated learning games.
